I’m basically a human guinea pig when it comes to testing out new fitness studios. The moment I hear about a grand opening, I’m in there! I enjoy switching up my workouts to make it more enjoyable. Doing the same workout everyday gets repetitive. I try to switch up my fitness routine and these are the studios in my rotation I go to get the best workout:
SLT (Strengthen, Lengthen, and Tone) is honestly one of the best workouts I have ever had! It’s unlike any other class- it’s basically Pilates on crack. I’ve seen SLT all around NYC, so when I found out a studio in Tenafly recently opened, I was so excited to try! My first class was on a Monday night at 6:30pm with Michelle Zevi. Let me tell you, the class was hard but Michelle made it so fun and the 50 minutes went by so quick. She has amazing energy and her playlist is so empowering.
The workout consists of strengthening your core, lengthening your limits, and toning up your body. It’s cardio, strength, training, and Pilates all in one! It’s 50 minutes of a full body workout that will leave you feeling accomplished. I was sore for a good 3 days after, but hey-if you’re not sore after a workout, did you even workout? The barre craze has been going on for a while and is only getting more popular! The class consists of small intricate movements that really make you feel the burn. It is a full body workout, starting off with a warmup leading to an upper body workout and finishing with a lower body workout. The workout is geared to sculpt your entire body, and let me tell you-you definitely feel it. Their standard class is the “Mixed” level, which is 60 minutes long. They also have an “Express” class for 45 minutes and “Level 2” for the more advanced barista.
The studio is very clean and has a cozy feeling. It almost feels like a spa when you walk in! Their apparel is so cute-I’m tempted to buy something every time I go! My top 2 favorite workouts are barre and cycle. (can you tell from this post?) One Love Bike + Bar has the best of both worlds! They have an amazing studio for barre and a sleek studio for cycle. They have a bunch of different classes you can take, including bike, barre boot camp, half + half, bike plus, kettle bar, body express, and bike n’ abs. My favorite has to be the half + half class, which consists of 30 minutes barre boot camp and 30 minutes bike. It is just as intense as it sounds! All the instructors are so helpful and motivating. Did you ever dream of becoming a Rockette when you were younger? I know I did! Well, at JaneDo, you can fulfill your dreams of becoming a Rockette! Well-not really, but you can work out with a couple! Founders Jacey Lambros and Danielle DeAngelo were former Radio City Rockettes and have created a workout to help you get in tip top shape! They found a routine that combines cardio, barre, strength, and dance to give you the best work out!
They offer private classes, small/large group training, and other intense classes. The classes they offer are Barre Naked, Sports Barre, Tramp Stamp, Step It Up and Dance You’re a** Off. Whichever class you choose, you will get seriously sweaty. The instructors make the classes so fun and quick! There’s nothing I love more than a 60-minute workout that feels like 15!
