Time to turn your romance card on people!!! Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, so in case you are looking for the most romantic restaurants in Bergen County, I got you covered. Hurry up and make those reservations, because you won’t want to miss out on these top spots!

Cafe Matisse: (167 Park Ave. Rutherford, NJ)

**BYOB**

Ambiance:

Rated one of the most romantic restaurants by northjersey.com, Cafe Matisse definitely lives up to its reputation. From the moment you walk in the front door, you feel as if you are in a different country. The decor is so authentic with colorful paintings and light fixtures that SCREAM romantic. They have an outdoor patio that you MUST dine on when it gets warmer out. The garden and the flowers are stunning! The staff will keep you laughing the entire time you are there. Cafe Matisse is more than just a restaurant, it is an experience you’ll never forget!

Food:

Besides the atmosphere being romantic, so is the menu. They are offering an exclusive Valentine’s Day menu you can find here. What makes Cafe Matisse so unique is what Chef Peter Loria does with his menu. There are about 10 savory dishes on the menu and then desserts. You have the choice to pick how many courses you want to do. (either 3, 4, or 5) There is no appetizer menu, it’s simply just savory and dessert. I love this because I always want to try as much as I can on the menu, and this menu style makes that possible! What does romantic food look like? You’ll have to come and check it out! Call now and make your Valentine’s Day reservation! (201)935-2995

Saddle River Inn: (2 Barnstable Ct. Saddle River, NJ) **BYOB**

Ambiance:

This restaurant is definitely a special occasion place. It is in a historic red barn that has a cabin type getaway feel to it. Make sure you dress to impress because this place is fancyyy! After dinner, walk off your meal by the beautiful pond outside and gaze at the moon to make it extra romantic.

Food:

Saddle River Inn is a fine dining, contemporary French restaurant, serving fresh and local organic produce. The menu changes twice seasonally, so never get the same thing twice! A staple on the menu is the tuna carpaccio! You can’t go wrong with any item on the menu here!

Cafe Panache: (130 E. Main St. Ramsey, NJ)

**BYOB**

Ambiance:

Elegant. I feel like that is the best word to describe Cafe Panache. It has a cozy romantic feel, which makes it great for Valentine’s Day! A couple of years ago, they added a room onto the front of the building that brings in natural sunlight making it warm and inviting. Located right on Main Street in Ramsey, makes it convenient to get to from Route 17.

Food:

The food matches it’s decor because of the elegance. Every plate is perfectly placed! The chef picks his vegetables daily at Abma’s Farm in Wycoff and only brings in the freshest produce for his recipes. The menu includes eight to ten appetizers and eight to ten entrees picked by the kitchen staff that morning. Some signature dishes include Crispy Wasabi Halibut, Pecan Chicken Breast with Dijon Mustard Sauce, and Braised Short Ribs with Dark Beer and Black Molasses.

Call and make your reservation, or make it on opentable!

Waterside: (7800 B River Rd. North Bergen, NJ)

Ambiance:

Want a romantic view of the NYC skyline for Valentine’s Day? Waterside has you covered. With incredible views of Manhattan, Waterside will give you an unforgettable night. If you are thinking about popping the question on Valentine’s Day, this is the spot!

Food:

They have great signature cocktails to start off the night. Order something off the Raw Bar menu for starters! (Oysters are my fave) They have very good seafood, but that doesn’t exclude the other items on the menu! They have very good red meat as well!

Oceanos: (2-27 Saddle River Rd. Fair Lawn, NJ)

Ambiance:

I feel like Oceanos is really underrated. The ambiance is cozy and has a warm family feel to it. It is the ultimate family establishment with the owner in the kitchen making the food, the son behind the bar making amazing signature cocktails, and the wife/mother taking reservations and planning events. ‘Oceanos is all about family, because at Oceanos you are family.’

Food:

Oceanos has a fantastic Greek/Mediterranean menu that will blow you away! They give you complimentary homemade olive bread to start, and I swear I could eat this as my dinner. It’s so addicting and delicious, you can’t just have one piece. If you’re a seafood eater, come here! Every selection of fish is amazing. The grilled octopus is to die for and you can’t go wrong with ordering a couple of specials.

Bottagra: (80 Wagaraw Rd. Hawthorne, NJ)

Ambiance:

Craving romantic modern Italian food? Bottagra is your go to! It is an old historic building that is gorgeous inside. The main dining room has NYC vibes with exposed brick wall and romantic lighting. With mosaic tiles on the walls and a gold theme going around the place, it is the chic-est Italian restaurant in the area. Enjoy a candle lit dinner with your date here!

Food:

The chef’s put a lot of thought in their menu adding a list of specials every night. With a full bar and wine list, you will have the best time at Bottagra. Two words, HOMEMADE PASTA! My go-to pasta is the spinach fettucine- diver sea scallops, gulf shrimp, spicy pomodoro, and a touch of cream! Try to order something off the special list-you can’t go wrong!
